It’s only natural to dream of the day you retire. After countless years of hard work, dedication, and commitment, the day you retire means that a whole new chapter in your life is about to begin.
You want to live comfortably and on top of this, you also want to enjoy your surroundings. This is why many people choose to relocate when they retire. A new setting means a whole new start, where you can explore and discover new ground on a daily basis.

Belize is a popular location that many retirees are flocking to from around the globe, especially within the last few decades. Known for being a beautiful and natural Caribbean paradise, Belize offers stunning views of the ocean, warm temperatures and a long list of sightseeing opportunities – including a barrier reef (which is slightly smaller to the one in Australia), the Mayan ruins, one-of-a-kind rain forests, and much more.
If you’re starting to plan out your retirement location, Belize retirement may be right for you.

Here are our top 5 reasons why you should retire in Belize:

Belize has one of the world’s best retiree programs. Thanks to the Qualified Retired Persons (QRP) Program in Belize, qualified retirees can be exempted from taxes on all income that stems from outside the country. In order to qualify for the program, you must be minimum 45 years of age or older and you must earn a monthly income of US $2,000 minimum, through a pension or annuity outside of the country. The Belize retirement program also benefits your spouse and children under the age of 18 (up to the age of 23). Your children however, will need to be attending university in order to qualify.

Belize has a stable and flourishing economy. Did you know Belize has the lowest inflation rates in the world? It’s true. Tourism is one of the main reasons for its thriving economy and the intake of foreign currency. Popular tourist attractions include: the largest cave system in Central America, the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, countless islands and beaches, which offer world class scuba diving, the Mayan ruins, and much more.
Also the real estate market is affordable. Belize offers low-cost real estate and a strong sense of community. Property is also easily attainable – whether you prefer to live in a modest condo on the beach, or a large estate, you will be surrounded by breathtaking surroundings of crystal clear tropical water, beautiful beaches, and an abundance of recreational opportunities.
